I expected, somehow, that Edward's absence would make him less influential as a romantic lead, and so I wasn't looking forward to reading this book.

I don't know how she did it. But she made Jacob amazing while still keeping Edward a very real influence over Bella, all without creating undue bias for one boy over the other (for the reader -- Bella is obviously biased).

I was impressed.

So was my husband, even though he swore he'd never read the books so I told him every single detail of the story, and then he liked the movie and... read the books.

XD Hee hee.
